Corporate Yoga Classes

Corporate Yoga Classes are becoming increasingly popular here in Ottawa. People in the government and private sector alike are taking the initiative to organize weekly yoga classes at their workplace and the benefits are immediate! My corporate students always comment on how energized and refreshed, yet calm they feel after a class.

Here's how it works.... we organize a group of 10 to 50 people in a corporate department or building who are interested in participating in a weekly (sometimes bi-weekly) yoga class. The cost per individual depends on the amount of people that participate. A location for the class is then designated. Some businesses have their own, or have access to, a fitness facility within or nearby their building, serving as a convenient locale for the class. However, often enough corporate yoga classes take place in a board or meeting room after tables and chairs have been pushed aside!

I strongly believe this yoga practice will be an integral part of reshaping the corporate world and it's my privilege to offer the practice and benefits of yoga to people who spend so much time sitting at a desk. Check out the "Here's what people are saying..." section below for some testimonials and feel free to contact me for further information at 613-889-2386.

DAVALON STABLES

In the spring of 2009 I will be presenting my Yoga and Horseback Riding Workshops, Boot Camps and Seminars at the beautiful Davalon Retreat Farm. A twenty minute drive from downtown, Davalon is located south west of the city at the pinnacle of Ottawa's surrounding highlands. The moment I set foot on this 100 acre sanctuary a heartwarming feeling penetrated me to my core and I knew this was a place for me to share and grow. Davalon's natural setting is the perfect venue to explore your full potential on both the physical and spiritual planes. Stay tuned for updates on programs beginning this spring and check out the link below for more information...

YIN YOGA - Undo what you put your body through

Yin yoga is accessible to everyone… the only requirement for this style of yoga is that you have a body. Beyond the fact that everyone can do Yin Yoga, everyone can benefit from this practice. I consider my less flexible students to be at an advantage when practicing this style of yoga simply because they feel more sensation and therefore have the potential to connect their mind-body without having to contort their bodies too much. Our bodies speak to us through the language of sensation and learning to feel, accept and listen to our bodies is a big part of this practice. Only when we listen do we develop our intuition… our ability to discern what is wrong or right for us as individuals.
This increasingly popular Yin practice focuses on the tissues in the body that are considered Yin in nature; fascia, ligaments, bones, joints and organs. Many students are referred to me by their doctors or physiotherapists and my Yin Yoga students are a most diverse group of students. Some are government workers that sit at a desk all day and others are elite athletes that are seeking to undo all the pounding they put their bodies through. The athletes often tell me that they are not looking for another workout when they do yoga and they love the Yin because they feel so much more energized and flexible after a class.
Deep stretching of connective tissue, decompression of joints, nourishing of organ tissue and regulation of hormonal function are a few of the benefits that result from this practice. I consider Yin Yoga an anti-aging tool that slows down the physical effects of aging. As bipeds (meaning we walk around on two legs), the aging process causes us to become tighter in our hips and weaker in our upper bodies. The Yin practice counters this tendency. The Yin practice offers a different approach to dealing with life’s stresses. It is a tool that can help you increase your mental and physical health.

An Explaination of the Styles of Yoga Louise Teaches...

HATHA FLOW
This all levels class is designed to strengthen, stretch and detox your body from head to toe. You will be guided to link your movements with your breath and flow from one pose to the next, resulting in an experience that is slightly more aerobic then a regular Hatha class. In this class you will strengthen your core and limbs, open your hips, and relax your mind, ultimately restoring your youthfulness and vitality!

HATHA INTERMEDIATE
In this class we experiment, in a playful way, with some deeper variations of the basic poses and I will introduce you to some more challenging sequences.

POWER XPRESS
This is a challening 1 hr class in a heated room, not so suitable for beginners. A blissful way to start the day. My intention with this class is to provide my students with a way to connect to their limitless potential so that they are ready to not just survive but thrive throughout their day!

YIN
This is a meditative, restorative practice suitable for all levels. An amazing compliment to our stressful lifestyles. For more info on this extremely benificial practice read the article on my blog archive.

HOT YOGA
This is a challenging but beginner friendly power style yoga class done in the hot room.
